Lifetime genealogical divergence within plants leads to epigenetic mosaicism in the shrub Lavandula latifolia (Lamiaceae)

چکیده
Epigenetic mosaicism is a possible source of within-plant phenotypic heterogeneity, yet its frequency and developmental origin remain unexplored. This study examines whether extant epigenetic heterogeneity within Lavandula latifolia (Lamiaceae) shrubs reflects recent modifications experienced independently by different plant parts or, alternatively, it the cumulative outcome steady lifetime process. Leaf samples from architectural modules (branch tips) were collected three L. plants characterized epigenetically global DNA cytosine methylation state methylation-sensitive amplified fragment-length polymorphism (MS-AFLP) markers. characteristics then assembled with information on branching history plants. Methods borrowed phylogenetic research used to assess genealogical signal variation reconstruct trajectory traits. Plants heterogeneous, as shown differences among in states 6 8% MS-AFLP All features exhibited significant Events divergence occurred throughout lifespan individuals subsequently propagated branch divisions. Internal diversification took place steadily during their development, process which eventually led persistent mosaicism.

Within-plant variation in seed size and inflorescence fecundity is associated with epigenetic mosaicism in the shrub Lavandula latifolia (Lamiaceae).
Background and Aims Sub-individual variation in traits of homologous structures has multiple ecological consequences for individuals and populations. Assessing the evolutionary significance of such effects requires an improved knowledge of the mechanisms underlying within-plant phenotypic heterogeneity. The hypothesis that continuous within-plant variation in some phenotypic traits can be assoc...
متن کاملA genealogical approach to quantifying lineage divergence.
We introduce a statistic, the genealogical sorting index (gsi), for quantifying the degree of exclusive ancestry of labeled groups on a rooted genealogy and demonstrate its application. The statistic is simple, intuitive, and easily calculated. It has a normalized range to facilitate comparisons among different groups, trees, or studies and it provides information on individual groups rather th...
متن کاملEpigenetic germline mosaicism in infertile men.
Imprinted genes are expressed either from the paternal or the maternal allele, because the other allele has been silenced in the mother's or father's germline. Imprints are characterized by DNA methylation at cytosine phosphate guanine sites. Recently, abnormal sperm parameters and male infertility have been linked to aberrant methylation patterns of imprinted genes in sperm DNA. However, these...

from 1950s onward, new theories and critical approaches burgeoned across humanities. these theories were context-oriented; as a result, the analysis of discursive practices gained significance. thus, social, political, historical and cultural discourses that have been hitherto marginalized and considered inferior to literary texts, were introduced as important texts to be analyzed by critics. o...
